Belend Mahmoud is a PhD candidate at the Department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center Groningen. He works under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rudolf de Boer and Dr. Daan Westenbrink.
Belend Mahmoud obtained both his bachelor and master degree in Medicine at the University of Groningen. During his studies and clinical rotations, he developed an interest in clinical research, which he strives to incorporate into his career along with patient care. Having contributed to PLN-cardiomyopathy research before, he continues his pursuit to unravel the pathophysiological properties of cardiomyopathies by conducting clinical research focused on potential metabolic stressors aggravating these cardiomyopathies.
