4th Translational Cardiovascular Research Meeting

Atrial Fibrillation, Healthy Lifestyle and 3D-on-a-chip-models. These are a few of the many subjects of the all-online 4th Translational Cardiovascular Research Meeting, held by the Netherlands Heart Institute and the Dutch CardioVascular Alliance.

Every year in June, hundreds of cardiovascular scientists come together in Utrecht to share the latest results of their research, to network, and to get inspired by the numerous lectures. Although the setup for the fourth Translational Cardiovascular Research meeting was a little different than that of the former three meetings, the congress was again well received.

The sessions and webinar where well visited, around 250 people attended. Paulus Kirchhof gave an inspiring keynote, highly appreciated lecture about “atrial fibrillation – from its genomic basis to new therapeutic approaches”.

Public and jury voted for the best dissertations and fellowship proposals. Wouter Meijers won the Einthoven Dissertation Prize and Guus de Waard and Ibrahim Danad came in second and third. Jason Voorneveld and Laurens Bosman took home a €45.000 fellowship award to work abroad for one year.

Save the date
The congress was well reviewed in the evaluation survey and worked out fine online. Nevertheless NL-HI and DCVA hope to meet everyone in person again on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 June 2021. Save the date!
