Rutger van de Leur is a PhD candidate at the Department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht. He works under supervision of prof. dr. Doevendans, dr. R. van Es and dr. R.J. Hassink. Rutger obtained his bachelor and master degree in Medicine at Utrecht University in 2020. Moreover, he obtained a master degree in Epidemiology with a focus on medical statistics and machine learning, and during his internship he gain interest in automated analysis of ECGs using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. His passion is to combine this medical, statistical and AI knowledge to be a bridge between the clinician and the AI technician. Currently, he focuses on state-of-the-art innovations for successful implementation of AI into clinical practice and for using deep learning on rare cardiac diseases.
