Winners of the 2025 Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award

7 July 2025

The Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA) proudly announced the winners of the 2025 Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award during the 9th Translational Cardiovascular Research Meeting, held on June 19–20, 2025. The Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award is a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding collaborative initiatives in the cardiovascular domain. This year, the award was presented to two exceptional teams for their groundbreaking efforts in research, data integration, and national coordination in heart failure care.

Award Winners:

  • Rik van de Kamp and Jasper Brugts
For their pioneering role in the CHECK-HF and TITRATE-HF studies, which laid the foundation for the current systematic registration of heart failure data within the NHR registry.

  • Steven Chamuleau and Jozine ter Maaten
For their leading efforts in uniting heart failure awareness, care, and research into a single national framework: the Delta Plan Heart Failure.

The Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award was established to honor initiatives that exemplify the power of partnership in addressing cardiovascular challenges. First awarded in 2022 to Wiek van Gilst himself—founder and initiator of the DCVA—the award has since recognized impactful projects such as the Heart Tissue Bank (2023) and Check@Home (2024).

Each year, the award includes a €10,000 grant to further support and strengthen collaboration within the cardiovascular field. It is designed to inspire new initiatives and amplify the impact of existing ones.

The DCVA congratulates this year’s winners and looks forward to receiving nominations for the 2026 edition of the Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award. The call for nominations will open later this year. We look forward to recognizing the next wave of collaborative excellence in cardiovascular health.
