PDF Job Description (in Dutch): Profiel directeur-bestuurder DCVA 2025
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As Managing Director of the Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA), you will provide direction to a strong collaborative network of organizations committed to reducing cardiovascular disease in the Netherlands. You connect people and parties both within and outside the alliance, aligning diverse interests around a shared ambition. You lead strategy, policy, and results, ensuring that the DCVA’s course is clear and effectively executed.
You maintain active contact with partners and stakeholders, foster collaboration, and continuously seek new opportunities to increase the alliance’s impact. Internally, you lead the team and chair key meetings. You work closely with the Supervisory Board to whom you are accountable. You are the one who keeps an overview, makes decisions, and ensures plans are translated into concrete results.
This includes, among other things:
Acting as the driving force and connector of the alliance, representing the DCVA towards current and potential partners and other stakeholders (such as knowledge institutions, businesses, social organizations, and government bodies).
As statutory director, being responsible for preparing, adopting, and realizing the DCVA’s policies.
Reporting to the Supervisory Board, including preparing the annual plan, annual report, budget, and financial statements.
Chairing the Program Management Team (PMT) and the DCVA Steering Committee.
Leading and being responsible for managing the DCVA office staff.
YOUR PROFILE
You have strong knowledge of and a clear vision on the cardiovascular (research) field, and can translate new developments into concrete opportunities for the DCVA.
You are a natural connector who strengthens the network within the alliance and further builds the positive image of the DCVA. You always act from the collective interest of the alliance, not personal or organizational interests.
You are an experienced team player and an accessible, unifying leader; capable of engaging people within the organization and creating support for your actions.
You are transparent, honest, and open; approachable, people-oriented, and empathetic. You are driven and enthusiastic, able to motivate and inspire others through genuine interest.
You have affinity with the broad field of cardiovascular diseases and a sharp insight into the strategic agenda and roles of the involved partners within the alliance. You are capable of building a network and collaborating with various stakeholders.
You possess an understanding of political, administrative, and interpersonal relationships and know how to respond effectively.
You can jointly steer the strategy and further development of the DCVA with partners.
You are reliable, results-driven, and willing to hold others accountable while consistently fulfilling your own commitments.
Diversity is an important theme within the Dutch CardioVascular Alliance; we therefore encourage everyone to apply.

Knowledge and experience in the cardiovascular (research) field is an advantage.

Proven managerial and/or governance experience, preferably also in alliance contexts.

Knowledge of finance, including funding of scientific research projects.
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
The high disease burden caused by cardiovascular diseases represents the greatest health challenge of the future. Every day, hundreds of people are suddenly affected by cardiac arrest, stroke, or other conditions. It is essential to detect cardiovascular diseases earlier, diagnose them more effectively, and improve treatment. This can only succeed through intensified collaboration.
The DCVA (www.dcvalliance.nl) is a collaboration of currently twenty-five organizations united by the shared ambition to reduce the cardiovascular disease burden by 25% by 2030. This pooling of forces on a national level aims to enable earlier detection of cardiovascular diseases, faster development of solutions, and effective delivery and evaluation for patients. To realize this ambition, the DCVA is structured around six pillars: Research Policy, Valorization, Implementation, Talent, Data Infrastructure, and Public Affairs & Communication. Supporting this is a small DCVA office that brings together a large network.
More information about the pillars and structure can be found in the PDF (in Dutch) at the top of the page.
