Toolkit available for local initiatives during the National Heart Failure Week 2026

From 20 to 26 April 2026, the third edition of the National Heart Failure Week will take place. During this nationwide week, heart failure takes center stage, with the 2026 theme being Recognition. This includes recognizing early signs and symptoms, initiating the right treatment in a timely manner—including attention to the palliative phase—and acknowledging the healthcare partners who play a crucial role in this process.

To support everyone who wants to contribute to National Heart Failure Week, the toolkit is now available online. This toolkit provides practical guidance for planning, organizing, and promoting activities during the week. It includes communication materials, background information, guidelines, and inspiration for regional initiatives. The toolkit will be updated regularly, ensuring that new materials and insights remain available throughout the preparation period.

Healthcare professionals, patient organizations, researchers, and other partners are warmly invited to use the toolkit and help raise awareness of heart failure in the Netherlands. Partners are encouraged to organize regional activities, such as workshops, symposia, information fairs, or lectures. Activities can be registered via deltaplanhartfalen@dcvalliance.nl.

The National Heart Failure Week is organized by the Deltaplan Heart Failure, an initiative by the Dutch Heart Foundation, Netherlands Heart Institute (NLHI), and the networkorganisation Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA), with support from key partners: Nederlandse Vereniging voor Cardiologie (NVVC), Beroepsvereniging NVHVV, WCN, HartVaatHAG, and Nederlandse Vereniging voor Klinische Geriatrie (NVKG).
