Who am I?
My name is Marie-José Goumans, I am professor cardiovascular cell biology, Department of Cell and Chemical Biology. My research focus is on understanding and implementing TGFβ/BMP signaling and their contribution to endogenous cardiovascular repair. In particular I am interested in endothelial/epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition.
Why do I think this program is important?
In my opinion, today’s healthcare problems can only be solved when different disciplines, each with their own unique qualifications and specific ‘language’, interact. If you want to become a gamechanger, you need to be able to ‘talk’ and discuss these issues with all these players. The DCVA leadership program provides a unique platform for talents to learn and build such network.
What do I expect from the participants?
I expect the participantss to be curious, open and thinking out of the box. I expect them to be curious to learn the different ‘languages’ and to find the necessary partners. Moreover, I expect the participants to be open, to be able to speak up their opinion and thoughts, and to be ambitious to combine different disciplines to really make a difference.
