"By leading through example and being disciplined, participants will be able to combine care and business, in which I will be very much supporting them."

Leonard Hofstra

Who am I?
Currently, I am the medical director of a successful clinic, part of Cardiologie Centra Netherlands, both in terms of patient care and business. We manage to diagnose and treat 500 new referrals plus 500 control patients every month, without having delay in health care delivery due to high flexibility and effective streamlining. In 2015, I received the award of the most patient friendly health care provider in the Netherlands, highlighting the importance of patient hospitality. In addition, I am Professor in Cardiology at the University Medical Center of Amsterdam.

Why do I think this program is important?
During my work as a medical director of Cardiologie Centra Netherlands, I found out that collaboration is essential in reaching mutual goals. By using attraction of several entertainment and media platforms, we educate and inspire people to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Besides, we collaborate with World Press Photo to use visual arts to inspire people and shape the discussion on climate, health and food, which is a great example of reaching goals by collaborating and thinking outside the box. By investing in talents who are willing to become leaders in the field and look beyond the scope of the standard, young generations can be prepared for (future) societal challenges.

What do I expect from the participants?
I expect the participants to be passionate about becoming leaders in the cardiovascular field by developing their skills in strategic thinking and being innovative. By leading through example and being disciplined, they will be able to combine care and business, in which I will be very much supporting them. I expect the participants to be open for learning and developing, both in fields they are comfortable with as well as in fields they have no experience with yet.
