Save the Date: National Heart Failure Week 2027 📢

From 19 to 25 April 2027, we come together for the fourth edition of National Heart Failure Week – a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of heart failure.

Looking back at 2026
National Heart Failure Week 2026 was a great success, thanks to the tremendous efforts of all participating regions and organisations. More than 60 activities took place across the country, engaging healthcare professionals, patients and the general public. The week also featured a digital relay and a political kick-off at Nieuwspoort, while heart failure and National Heart Failure Week received widespread media attention.

In 2027, we look forward to another week full of activities across the Netherlands. The toolkit will be further updated in the coming months to support everyone with organising and promoting their activities.

Would you like to contribute to National Heart Failure Week? Organise a workshop, symposium, information stand or public lecture and help raise awareness of heart failure. Register your initiative via deltaplanhartfalen@dvcalliance.nl. Need inspiration? Take a look at last year’s activities on deltaplanhartfalen.nl/de-hartfalenweek/.

Why it matters

  • Every day, 22 people in the Netherlands die from heart failure
  • 80% of the Dutch population doesn’t know what heart failure is
  • An estimated 255,000 people live with undiagnosed heart failure

National Heart Failure Week is organised by Deltaplan Heart Failure, an initiative of the Dutch Heart Foundation, Netherlands Heart Institute (NLHI) and Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA), with support from Nederlandse Vereniging voor Cardiologie (NVVC), Beroepsvereniging NVHVV, WCN, HartVaatHAG and Nederlandse Vereniging voor Klinische Geriatrie (NVKG).
