Save the Date: National Heart Failure Week 2026 📢
From April 20th to 26th 2026, we come together for the third edition of the National Heart Failure Week – a nationwide initiative to put heart failure in the spotlight.
Last year was a big success!
The National Heart Failure Week 2025 was a big success – thanks to the tremendous efforts of all regions. More than 40 activities took place across the country, engaging professionals, patients, and the public alike. Something happened in every province!
In 2026, we build on this success – with the theme Recognition.
The theme for the upcoming edition is ‘Recognition’: recognizing the early signs and symptoms of heart failure, recognizing the right treatment at the right time, including the palliative phase, and recognizing the partners in care who can make a difference.
Plan an activity – from workshops, symposia and information stands to public talks – and help us raise awareness. Register your initiative via deltaplanhartfalen@dvcalliance.nl. Need inspiration? Take a look at this year’s activities on https://deltaplanhartfalen.nl/de-hartfalenweek/
Why it matters
- Every day, 22 people in the Netherlands die from heart failure
- 80% of the Dutch population doesn’t know what heart failure is
- An estimated 255,000 people live with undiagnosed heart failure
The National Heart Failure Week is organized by the Deltaplan Heart Failure, an initiative by the Dutch Heart Foundation, Netherlands Heart Institute (NLHI), and the networkorganisation Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA), with support from key partners: Nederlandse Vereniging voor Cardiologie (NVVC), Beroepsvereniging NVHVV, WCN, HartVaatHAG, and Nederlandse Vereniging voor Klinische Geriatrie (NVKG).
Let’s work together to improve heart failure care in the Netherlands! Save the date, participate, and help raise awareness!
