Double Dose - Sarah Hilderink

Sarah Hilderink is a PhD candidate at the Department of Physiology at the Amsterdam UMC location, under the supervision of Prof. Jolanda van der Velden and Dr. Diederik Kuster.

Sarah Hilderink completed her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (University of Amsterdam) and developed an interest in heart failure and arrhythmias during her first internship where she studied the role of ionchannelopathies on iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes. She proceeded to obtain her master’s degree in Cardiovascular Research (Free University Amsterdam) and explored various aspects of cardiovascular research by performing a fundamental research internship in vascular science at the department of Physiology at the VUmc, and a translational internship of a novel multitarget drug therapy to limit myocardial infarction damage at the AMC’s department of Anaesthesiology. Combining her passion for fundamental and translational research, Sarah has started working as a PhD student in the research group of Prof. Jolanda van der Velden, where she studies the role of metabolic stress in relation to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
