Double Dose - Qianliang Yuan

Qianliang Yuan is a PhD candidate at the Department of Physiology at the Amsterdam UMC, under the supervision of Prof. Jolanda van der Velden and Dr. Jan Willem Buikema (funded by a Chinese PhD Scholarship).

After obtaining his academic master degree in the field of zoonosis research in Jilin University (China), he was granted a government fund (CSC) for PhD study abroad. During his research, he has developed a wealth of research experience regarding the molecular signaling mechanisms of molecular biology, cell biology, protein science, etc. His PhD project has been mainly focusing on unraveling early disease biology with the use of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) from patients with inherited cardiomyopathies. In general, this project aims to investigate sarcomere architecture of hiPSC-CMs harboring sarcomere mutations in response to embryonic wnt signaling pathway modifications.
