Michelle Michels is principal investigator in the Double Dosis programme and one of the coordinators of WP3 focusing on societal impact and optimizing care. She works as a cardiologist in the Erasmus MC and is the director of the NFU expertise centre of Inherited Cardiovascular disease of the Erasmus MC. In this expertise centre paediatric and adults cardiologists, clinical and molecular geneticist collaborate both for research and patient care covering a broad spectrum of inherited diseases.
Michels main clinical and research interest is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; focusing on optimizing care and unravelling pathomechanisms. The combination of clinical and genetic data of HCM patients and family members in the Erasmus MC observational cohort and data from the HCM tissue bank, a longstanding collaboration with the van der Velden group has been very fruitful.
