DCVA iPSC-CM Journal Club 2021
In October 2020, several scientists from the Double Dose consortium started a journal club on induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) and all its applications. iPSC-CMs are increasingly being used as alternatives for test animals to investigate mechanisms of disease. The DCVA iPSC-CM journal club includes multidisciplinary scientists from six national centers (Amsterdam UMC, Leiden UMC, Maastricht UMC, UMC Groningen, UMC Utrecht, University of Twente) who work on iPSC-CMs, ranging from professors to technicians and (PhD) students. They meet monthly to discuss new scientific publications, exchange protocols, or lecture on general cardiac physiology. They aim to establish common practices and guidelines for their labs, but also to educate young scientists in the Double Dose consortium.
