WCN-DCVA pitch

On May 17th, an innovative experiment took place: the WCN-DCVA Pitch 2021. Scientists from ten current research initiatives were given the opportunity to pitch their research to a multidisciplinary panel. The pitch thus offered them a stage with plenty of opportunities for matchmaking, but there was more to be earned. WCN offers the winner a start-up subsidy from its WSN foundation.

DCVA panel
The panel consisted of DCVA partners who, in addition to knowledge or financing, can also offer links to existing initiatives. All panel members have indicated with which projects they want to collaborate in order to bring the plans into a viable study. Central to the discussions was the DCVA ambition, and therefore the patient.

Broad range of pitches
The range of research was very diverse. This made for an animated and varied evening. Tight pitches were presented, which in a number of cases showed a broader view of the future and the possible impact of their idea. That is what we are looking for, innovation that is not only scientifically interesting, but above all also socially relevant and fitting into the big picture. The next step is now feasibility: methodologically, operationally and financially.

Next steps
The evening had many winners; the parties will be brought together in the coming period, so that hopefully a lot of good initiatives can be started. The winner of the starting grant will be announced after the next round. The partners consider the WCN-DCVA pitch a successful experiment and will further develop it together in the coming years. The WCN is proud of the outcome of this initiative and pleased to contribute in this way to the ambition and vision of the DCVA.
