One year DCVA Leadership Program

One year DCVA Leadership Program
We are very proud that today the first group of participants of the DCVA Leadership Program presented their findings on the complex topics they have been working on for the last year. In an online session they presented their advise on evaluation of healthcare, animal free innovations, how to deal with data and registries, patient wellness, and how to successfully make use of already existing technologies.

We use this milestone to look back on one year DCVA Leadership Program.

Start in September 2020
In September 2020 the first edition of the DCVA Leadership Program started with a group of 15 future leaders in de cardiovascular arena. During three days of training and social interaction, the fifteen participants were supported by Margreet van Rixtel in taking their first steps of becoming leaders who are able to solve complex cardiovascular healthcare related problems. The participants were introduced to the different styles of leadership, how to analyze complex healthcare problems and how to inflict changes to the environment. Part of the program was to inspire the participants with personal stories of their mentors. The mentors of the participants presented their own career path and what has moved them to take certain decisions during their career. In addition, Sjoerd Repping, Professor “Zinnige zorg”, was invited to tell about his own career.

Healthcare challenges
The 15 talents worked in subgroups of three on five challenging, complex topics the DCVA partners encounter; evaluation of healthcare, animal free innovations, how to deal with data and registries, patient wellness, and how to successfully make use of already existing technologies.

In-depth days
After the training training days in September, three in-depth days were scheduled. These in-depth days included additional training of Margreet van Rixtel and every session an inspiring speaker with a leadership track record in the cardiovascular field was invited to give a personal presentation. Professor Dr. Barbara Casadei, Professor Dr. Marcel Levi and Prof. Dr. Barbara Mulder were willing to present about their personal stories and the challenges they encountered during their own career.

What is next?
The first group will start with their second, and last, year of the DCVA Leadership Program. This year will again include three in-depth days with a specific topic. We also aim to organize an international trip to delve into the healthcare challenges the participants have been working on from another, European perspective. And now that we expect to be able to meet each other live again, we aim to organize a network event in the fall 2021.

In addition, the second group of the DCVA Leadership Program has been selected and will start on June 17th. On June 17th they will meet their other group members. In addition, they will meet with the DCVA partner who will be responsible for their complex healthcare challenge.
