DCVA Leadership Program 2021-2022

Already in June, the second edition of the DCVA Leadership Program started. Last week, we continued the program with three days of training and social interaction in congres hotel Kaap Doorn.

Our trainer Margreet van Rixtel trained the fifteen participants in taking their first steps in the world of leadership and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Mentors
During the three days of training the participants met their mentors. Four enthusiastic professionals; Rita Struhkamp, Daphne Merkus, Bert Leufkens and Arthur Wilde are willing to coach and support our participants during this two-year program. On the first day of training they spoke to the participants about their “why” and got the opportunity to get to know each over dinner.

Creative intermezzo
Similar to last year, at the end of the second day, the participants were introduced to leadership in a more creative manner. During a djembé workshop, the participants were requested to step out their comfort zone and experiment with leadership, teambuilding, and following and taking initiative.

Healthcare challenges
Also this year, the participants work on five complex health care challenges, formulated by the partners of the DCVA. The topics of this year’s challenges are: ‘Responsible, valuable cardiovascular science and innovation’, ‘Using data from wearables for patient care’, ‘Hartenbank: donor recruitment and donor retention’, ‘Cardiac rehabilitation’ and ‘Tailor-made regulations for research’. The participants will work in groups of three on the topic of their preference during the 2-year program. Perhaps you’ll be invited for an interview by one of the advice teams as they reach out to important stakeholders.

Key note Speaker
On the final day of the three days of training, key note speaker Carmen van Vilsteren, Managing Director TU/e, Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center and chair of the Top Sector Life Sciences & Health gave a lecture about her motivations for her work and career path. Also did she challenge the participants to think about their healthcare challenges en what could be useful ‘greaser’ in stimulating collaborations.
