Cardiovascular PPS Program: Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration

At the Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA), we believe that research should lead to tangible healthcare solutions. However, researchers often cannot achieve this alone. That is why, in collaboration with the Dutch Heart Foundation (Hartstichting) and the Netherlands Heart Institute (NLHI), we have developed a funding program to support public-private partnerships (PPS) in cardiovascular research and innovation.

Together we focus on discovering and implementing new ways to detect and treat cardiovascular diseases at an earlier stage. Our goal is to stimulate translational and innovative research projects and accelerate the application of new knowledge in cardiovascular healthcare.

Collaboration with industry partners is crucial to achieving this. By working with companies and other relevant stakeholders, we can bridge the gap between fundamental research and real-world implementation. To encourage such partnerships, we provide dedicated funding for public-private collaborations through the Cardiovascular PPS Program.

Three Funding Opportunities

The Cardiovascular PPS Program offers three funding opportunities for researchers:

  1. Creating new public-private partnerships that contribute to addressing major societal challenges and economic growth markets.
  2. Developing existing academic collaborations into strong public-private partnerships.
  3. Supporting young businesses (micro and small SMEs) in scaling up, with intensive guidance from the valorization team.

The DCVA, together with the Dutch Heart Foundation and the NLHI, forms the program group for the Cardiovascular PPS Program. Together, we ensure the coordination and implementation of the program.

Collaboration with Health~Holland

This program is made possible through co-financing by Health~Holland, the Top Sector Life Sciences & Health (LSH), which provides a PPS allowance to stimulate public-private collaborations in research and innovation.

Health~Holland focuses on tackling key societal challenges in prevention, treatment, and healthcare improvement, with the goal of enhancing quality of life and reducing healthcare costs. These objectives closely align with the mission of the DCVA, the Dutch Heart Foundation, and the NLHI.

The Cardiovascular PPS Program is one of the 15 PPS programs for 2025 approved by Health~Holland. Through this initiative, we invest in cutting-edge research projects, helping to transform promising scientific discoveries into new products, methodologies, and therapies that will benefit cardiovascular patients in the near future.

By fostering strong collaborations between researchers, industry, and healthcare professionals, we aim to accelerate innovation and drive meaningful impact in the fight against cardiovascular diseases.
